A 5-year-old stray dog, lovingly named Guddu by rescuers, was brought to the CGS Hospital following a severe road traffic accident. He was found lying motionless on the roadside, bleeding from the mouth, and in a state of deep shock. His condition was critical, with visible injuries and organs protruding from the flank region—a clear case of evisceration. Upon arrival, Guddu was unresponsive, cold to the touch, and barely breathing. Immediate steps were taken to stabilize him. Intravenous fluids, oxygen therapy, and shock medications were administered as the veterinary team worked tirelessly to save his life.
A thorough examination revealed that a large portion of Guddu’s intestines had herniated and eviscerated through a tear in his abdominal wall. His survival depended on swift and skilled surgical intervention. Without delay, an emergency exploratory laparotomy was performed. The eviscerated intestines were cleaned, assessed for viability, and carefully repositioned. The torn abdominal wall was repaired, and the wound was closed with utmost care. Post-surgery, Guddu was placed under intensive critical care. For the next 3 to 4 days, he was closely monitored. Pain management, antibiotics, fluids, and proper nutrition were all part of his recovery protocol. Gradually, Guddu began to show signs of improvement.
He started responding to voices, lifted his head, and then took his first steps. Soon, he began eating on his own. From a motionless, gravely injured dog to a slowly recovering fighter, Guddu's journey was nothing short of miraculous. His will to live, combined with timely veterinary care, saved his life.
